What inspired the creation of your latest collection, and how does it reflect your brand's identity?
By Field & Flower focuses on seasonless, custom made hats for everyday wear. From bachelorette and bridal designs to summer staples such as trucker hats and fall classics like our Cactus rancher hats, our hats can transit for year round styling.
Can you describe your approach to sustainability and ethical practices in your manufacturing/design process?
Our hats are handmade in our studio in Mexico by a small team of artisans, we don't buy wholesale from fast fashion warehouses in China or India. From the creation of our vegan suede waterproof fabric to the hand-carved wooden forms to the recycling of leftover material to make hat bands, each step of our hat making process revolves around creating quality designs that are also ethically manufactured. A percentage of each sale is also donated to various environmental organizations to help preserve wildlife areas that are crucial to pollinator survival.
How do you stay ahead of fashion trends, and what do you see as the next big trend in the industry?
Although we don't necessarily follow runway fashion trends at By Field & Flower, a huge trend across the fashion industry as a whole right now is Western Wear. From Beyonce to Louis Vuitton and beyond, fashion is heading West and we couldn't be more excited to join in on the trend.
What challenges have you faced in building your brand, and how have you overcome them?
Our biggest challenge right now is growth! We are looking to put down roots in the Columbus area and get our brand name out there for retail shoppers, event planners, and more that are local to the 614. In the meantime, you can find us at over 50 boutiques nationwide through our wholesale program and through our corporate event partnerships such as the Tennessee Titans. We hope to see you at an event soon!
How do you engage with your customer base and incorporate their feedback into your designs?
Our customers are the reason we do this and we are so excited to see how everyone designs their own unique hat! We are constantly customizing our accessories and styles for our shoppers. We currently offer customized sizes Kids L- Men's XL, over 15 silhouettes, over 42 vegan suede color options, and 100+ hat bar accessories to choose from.
